Park It & Read

MPark It and Read (1)anchester Arts invites you to our first ever summer reading program! Park It & Read is a reading program with fun virtual and in person activities at Manchester Parks. Like most reading programs we ask you to track your reading, but we add in some fun ways for you to get outside and enjoy the sunshine or to get creative! We have some awesome Manchester Park themed prizes as well as coupons and freebies from Manchester businesses. 

**You do not need to be a Manchester resident to participate.**

Runs June 1 - July 31 with the final Grand Prize Drawing in each age category the first week of August. 

Age categories:

0-9 years: tracked by minutes in 10 min increments - Every 6 hours of reading gets you an awesome prize. After 12 hours of reading you are entered into the final Grand Prize Drawing. Parents - reading to/with your child counts toward their time! Basic Reading Tracker Ages 0-9  Email your completed tracker to arts@manchestermo.gov or drop it by the Schroeder Park Office. 

10 years -17 years: tracked by minutes in 20 min increments - Every 8 hours of reading gets you an awesome prize. After 16 hours of reading you are entered into the final Grand Prize Drawing. Basic Reading Tracker Ages 10-17 Email your completed tracker to arts@manchestermo.gov or drop it by the Schroeder Park Office. 

18 years +: tracked by book -  Every 3 books gets you an awesome prize. After 6 books you are entered into the Final Grand Prize Drawing. Basic Reading Tracker Ages 18+ Email your completed tracker to arts@manchestermo.gov or drop it by the Schroeder Park Office. 

Other ways to earn "time" on your tracker!

We also have fun creative ways for you to earn extra “time” on your reading trackers. Children 17 and under can earn 30 extra minutes on their reading log for attending or participating in any of the events or activities below. Adults can earn 1 extra book on their reading log by attending or participating in 3 of the items listed below.Just write us a note on your tracker saying which items you have completed. 

Create your own Reading Tracker - We have created a basic reading tracker for each age group, but we encourage you to create your own! Use color, pictures, watercolors, etc...and create your own tracking masterpiece! 

Book Donation Drives - Drop books off at our blue rocket ship in front of our Schroeder Park Office to be used to stock our Little Free Libraries. 

June 15 - 21 & July 6 - 12

Story Time at the Park - Join us for Story Time at the Park. Bring your child(ren) and enjoy nature while listening to a story. Free, and no registration required.

June 18th at 9 am at Margaret Stoecker Park Pavilion - Goldfish on Vacation by Sally Lloyd-Jones

July 22nd at 9 am at Margaret Stoecker Park Pavilion - Title TBD

Crafty Readers - Pop in for a fun reading related craft! Class costs $3 per person and you must register ahead of time. 

June 24th at 2 pm Mini Notebook Making Class at Margaret Stoecker Park Pavilion

July 14th at 2pm Book Mark Making Class at Margaret Stoecker Park Pavilion
