As part of a St. Louis County Department of Public Health grant awarded to the City of Manchester to promote municipal waste reduction, residents will have the opportunity to purchase an Earth Machine back-yard composting kit this spring at a discounted price. There will be a limited supply of composting kits and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis. The composting kits will be made available to residents through an online store that will be on the City’s website starting March 2, 2020. The pick-up date for the composter will be on the morning of Saturday, April 25, 2020, as part of the City’s annual Arbor Day celebration in Schroeder Park.
In addition, there will be TWO free “Compost 101” classes on February 22, 2020 at the City’s Parks, Recreation, and Arts Department to educate the community on the benefits of diverting waste from the landfill. Residents that attend the class will have the first opportunity to reserve the Earth Machine Composting Kit. More information on this class can be found in the Park, Recreation, and Arts Guide on the City’s website. You may also click on the link below to sign up for the class.
