The City of Manchester acknowledges with sadness and loss the passing of former Mayor David L. Willson. A long-time resident of Manchester, Mayor Willson was elected in 2008 and served as mayor until May 2018. During his tenure, the City experienced considerable growth and improvements in its infrastructure and public spaces. As Mayor, he oversaw construction of the Manchester Justice Center, Schroeder Park Amphitheater, Parks Building and Veterans Memorial.
Willson was active regionally, serving on the executive board of the Municipal League of Metro St. Louis and a member of the Lafayette Area Mayors and the Metro Mayors Organizations.
The former Mayor loved his City and the people and businesses that made up the community. He was often seen at City concerts and events greeting friends and residents. Please keep Mayor Willson’s wife, Mary, and their friends and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers.
