Manchester Police will be an active participant during the St. Louis Scottish Games on May 6 in Schroeder Park. And it will not be limited to security and traffic control. Manchester Police will be demonstrating their strength in the games’ tug-of-war competition.
Police officers Todd Clark, Jim Logan, Jesus Montes-Pacheco, Evan Waters and Lowell Moore (backup) will combine with officers from the Ballwin Police Department to form one team. Known as the “Tuggernauts,” the combined Manchester-Ballwin team will be opposed by members from the St. Louis County Police Tactical Operations unit.
Beginning at 1 p.m., the teams will compete in three matches, with the team winning two matches being named the overall champion. In order to win, a team must pull the 13-foot marker of the opposing team across the center line.
Regardless of who wins, the St. Louis Scottish Games will be making a $1,000 donation to BackStoppers, Inc., an organization that assists families of first responders who have died in the line of duty. The winning squad will receive a trophy and plenty of bragging rights.
