RESIDENT REFERENCE GUIDE TO MANCHESTER'S REFUSE, RECYCLING AND YARD WASTE COLLECTION
Refuse Collection
Manchester provides refuse collection once a week. Collection limits are seven trash cans or nine plastic bags or a combination of cans and bags totaling seven items. A second refuse pick up may be scheduled weekly for $6.00 per month to be paid by the resident. A 96-gallon refuse container may also be rented for $3.00 per month to be paid by the resident.
Recycling
Manchester provides recycling collection every other week. An 18-gallon green IESI recycling container can be provided free of charge. Recyclable materials include: newspapers, phone books, glass containers, aluminum and tin cans, corrugated cardboard and plastic containers No. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Yard Waste The City offers once a week yard waste services for nine months from mid-March to mid-December each year. Yard waste collection is on the same day as your refuse service. Yard waste may be in brown "kraft" bags, loose in cans or bundled with twine. Plastic bags may not be used for yard waste. Bundles must be less than four feet in length, and no more than 24 inches in diameter and under 50 pounds. There is a 10-bag, can or bundle limit per pickup. Yard waste service runs nine months from mid March to mid December each year.
Timing is Important!
Please have all items at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your pick-up day. According to City Ordinance, all refuse, yard waste, bulky waste and recyclables may be placed at the curb no sooner than the night before the designated day for collection and must be removed from the curb no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of the regularly-scheduled trash collection services.
Appliances and Bulk Items
Appliance and bulky item pickups will cost $25.00 per item and need to be scheduled at least 48 hours prior to the regularly scheduled refuse pick-up day. Please call IESI of Missouri directly at 636-321-2100 for this service.
Holidays
When a holiday falls on a weekly collection day, your pick-up schedule will be one day later for that week as will the remaining collection days that week. For example, if your normally scheduled pick-up day is Monday and the upcoming Monday is a recognized holiday, your pick-up day will then be Tuesday. All other days of that week will be one day later as well with the collection normally done on Friday being performed on Saturday.
