Civic Season and Civic Saturday

Join the City of Manchester for our first Civic Season, a series of interactive experiences aimed at reinvigorating our civic spirits. In a time of divisiveness and isolation, Manchester’s Civic Season aims to give neighbors an alternative to polarization by sharing gatherings and events that celebrate the civic virtues we hold in common. Values such as community, belonging, being a good neighbor, and contributing towards the common good. Engage in “civics of the heart” and connect with others as we aim for a higher purpose and a strengthened sense of community and connectedness.

Civic Saturday: Care

Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10 a.m.

Parks Building, 359 Old Meramec Station Road

Take a break from life’s stresses and come together with others for a sixty-minute gathering featuring music, readings, and conversation all about Care.  How do we build trust and community when we both extend and receive care? How can we take small steps to battle isolation in our own lives and neighborhoods? Hear about opportunities around community care through various City of Manchester initiatives, as well as the local non-profit ManchesterCares. Coffee and refreshments will be served.

Civic Saturday: Belonging

Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10 a.m.

Parks Building, 359 Old Meramec Station Road

We are happier and healthier when we know each other better as friends and neighbors, and creating that sense of belonging builds our social fabric as a community.  Join in a gathering focused on Belonging where we explore how we can create neighborhoods and a community where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Through music, readings and conversation, reflect on how a healthy and open hometown culture creates ownership among its citizens as it inspires us to look out for one another and the common good of our community. Let’s lessen the distance between the City of Manchester and residents, as well as neighbors with one another, as we work together to create a civic life that supports our families and neighborhoods. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
