Responsibilities

The Board of Aldermen is the elected governing body of the City of Manchester. It enacts legislation and citywide policies to protect and promote the health, safety and general welfare of the community.

The Board of Aldermen is the elected governing body of the City of Manchester. It enacts legislation and citywide policies to protect and promote the health, safety and general welfare of the community.  

Elected Officials

At the general election held on the first (1st) Tuesday after the first (1st) Monday of April of each even-numbered year, qualified voters of the City shall elect a Mayor and one (1) Alderman from each ward, each of whom shall hold office for a term of two (2) years and until his/her successor is elected and qualified. The second (2nd) Alderman from each ward shall run in off-year elections. Elections shall be conducted as provided in the Revised Statutes.
