The City of Manchester has been awarded grant funding to promote Municipal Waste Reduction through the St. Louis County Department of Public Health. The City has chosen to promote Backyard Composting through this grant opportunity by offering a composting kit at a discounted price to residents.

The City’s Parks, Recreation, and Arts Department will be holding a “Compost 101” class on February 22, 2020 to educate the community on the benefits of diverting waste from the landfill. More information on this class can be found in the Park, Recreation, and Arts Guide on the City’s website. Shortly after on March 2, 2020 the online store to purchase the composter will open. The pick up date for the composter will be on the morning of Saturday, April 25, 2020, as part of the City’s annual Arbor Day celebration in Schroeder Park.
